You've taught the vocabulary, they all passed the test, but is that enough? Once children know that red is adom, blue is kachol, mother is ima and father is aba, how do you get them to use what they've learned and actually talk? How can you turn English from another subject in which facts are drilled and memorized into a language, a language that can even be fun to speak?
I do just that using songs and games. Fun songs with simple, repetitive lyrics and games in which children say words or sentences. All are accompanied by pictures and/or hand motions.
In my workshops I've shown teachers how to teach children to speak and understand without drilling, without translating, without the children even noticing that they're learning. Search this site and find ideas, songs and games to inspire you.
